We love Cooking Stoned. Well, that too, but we’re talking about the vegetarian/vegan food blog by Jerry James Stone. He’s quite fond of creating boundary-pushing recipes that feature inspired concoctions that you probably won’t find in your current recipe box, like Sweet & Salty Celery Popsicles and Vodka Spiked Deviled Eggs. Speaking of vodka, Mr. Stone is also quite the wizard when it comes to cocktails. Umm… Bourbon and Butternut Squash Ice Cream Floats, anybody?
Luckily for all of us, we now have Holidazed to look forward to, Jerry’s upcoming book of festive drinks. Jerry was kind enough to invite us over to his Castro apartment to sample some recipes from the book and take a Polaroid. As admitted fans of the spirits, we’re delighted to report that Stone’s unusual twists on the classics are very welcome entries into the cocktail canon. His Beet & Cilantro Margarita alone is reason enough to fall off any wagon you might be on. The recipe? Well, you’ll just have to wait for the book, which is being funded through Kickstarter. And even though the initial goal has already been met and then some, there is still time to pledge and secure yourself a first edition of Holidazed, ensuring that you’ll be the toast of all your booze-loving friends and family this holiday season.
